UNDP project to increase BRTC bus reliability

DHAKA: UN Development Progamme (UNDP) has launched a pilot project with Bangladesh Road and Transport Corporation (BRTC) to increase the reliability of the BRTC busses.

Working with GoB, a local Bangladesh Start-up focused on providing real-time traffic data, UNDP & BRTC worked to equip BRTC Busses with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to provide real-time estimates of the length of the users bus trip along the Abdullahpur to Motijheel bus route, delivered through the GoTraffic app.

The BRTC chairman Mizanur Rahman was quoted saying ‘I extremely appreciate UNDP supporting BRTC through this initiative’.

More information is expected to be announced at the Bangladesh Development Forum on November 15th and 16th at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre from 9:00-4:00 where, BRTC and UNDP with the support of GoB, will be presenting the pilot at the Data Revolution Section of the Forum.
