NARAYANGANJ: A district court on Friday sent Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the sensational seven-murder case in Narayanganj, to jail, showing him arrested in 11 cases.
Narayanganj chief Judicial Magistrate Shahidul passed the order when police produced the accused before it.
Earlier, Nur Hossain was taken to court in a microbus from Narayanganj police lines around 2:30pm.
Court’s additional public prosecutor (APP) KM Fazlur Rahman told banglanews that police sought court order to show Nur Hossain in 11 cases. Later, the court ordered to send him to jail accepting the plea of police.
Immediately after court order, Nur Hossain was taken to Narayanganj Distirct joil from the court.
On Thursday night, the prime accused in the sensational seven-murder case and also the former councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation has been brought back home from India.
Indian Border security force handed over Nur Hossain to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through Benapole check post around 11:20pm.
Later, he was taken to Rapid Action Battalion-1 headquarters in the city around 6:50am.
RAB-1 members handed over him to Narayanganj police, RAB director Mufti Mahmud Khan said at a press briefing at its headquarters around 7:05am.
Earlier, home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told the media after attending the ongoing Parliament session that the report circulated regarding the repatriation of Nur Hossain is true.
On April 27, 2014, seven people, including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted allegedly by Rapid Action Battalion personnel from Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.
Their bodies were found afloat in river Sitalakhya a couple of days later.
The families of the victims accused Nur Hossain and five others for the killings with the assistance of RAB-11.
On June 14, 2014, the Indian National Investigation Unit jointly with Anti-Terrorism Squad had arrested Nur Hossain, along with two other Bangladeshis in Barasat of West Bengal province.
On April 8 this year, police submitted the charge sheet of the Narayanganj seven-murder case against 35, naming Nur Hossain as the prime accused.
