Traders-Dhaka College students clash, 5 hurt

DHAKA: A clash that erupted between the businesspersons of local market and students of Dhaka College in city over a trifle matter on Thursday afternoon, left five injured.

The clash began around 4:00pm and lasted around one hour triggering vehicular movement through the busy roads in city and causing immense sufferings to office-return commuters.

After one-and-a-half hour chase and counter chase between two conflicting groups, police brought the situation under control by firing tear gas shells.

In the meantime, five people, including two students of Dhaka College, were injured after being hit by brick chips.

The injured are pedestrian Nurul Islam, 48, shopper Hamida Akter, 40, retailer Rony, 24, Dhaka College students Shanto, 21, and Imran, 24.

Dhanmondi Zone assistant police commissioner (AC) Ruhul Amin Sagor confirmed the matter to banglanews.

None was reportedly detained from the spot. Legal action would be taken against the guilty persons after tracing their identities.
