DHAKA: Manpower export deal with Malaysia known as Government to Government (G2G), which was stalled for some complexities, will be signed soon.
No syndicate rather the agencies with good track record will send workers to Malaysia as uttered by expatriate welfare and overseas employment minister Nurul Islam BSC.
He disclosed this on Thursday (December 17) in his Iskaton secretariat office in city at a press conference organized in connection with ‘International Migration Day’ on December 18.
In a query of the pressmen the minister said, “We have reached at the final stage of G2G plus deal and sending of workers to Malaysia will begin as the MoU will be signed”.
However, the workers under G2G are still going on but in a limited number which will be sent in bulk after signing of deal. “We also do not want that maximum workers go now because if it happens then they will not get preferred job, accommodation and necessary security”.
Nurul Islam BSC said, “We have no knowledge about any syndicate in Malaysia. We reached to such an understanding that we did not use the term BAIRA rather BRA (Bangladesh Recruiting agencies). We have no special favor for anybody but the past track record will stand for their credential”.
When asked that for joining the Saudi sponsored military alliance whether the nation will be the target of Islamic State (IS), the minister said that due to policy pursue by the present government there will be an understanding with Saudi Arabia.
“I will go there before the understanding. Moreover, there is no IS in our country.”
In the written statement the minister said that ‘Global migration, prosperous country, festive life’ was the slogan of ensuing migration day. “At present about 96 Bangladeshis are working in 160 countries with much reputation,” he added.
According to the minister, the remittance, sent by the expatriate, has speed up the national development and their sending figure will stand at 15 billion USD in the current year.
He further said, “We are trying to keep our present market in tact and further exploring the markets of Thailand and Australia”.
He further informed the media that under this ministry there are 64 technical training centers, 5 institutes of marine technology through which the government are making skilled manpower numbering 15 thousand workers. A part of those skilled are going abroad with job.
The minister said that there will be a daylong program on Friday including rally at 8:00am from south plaza of Sangsad Bhavan, the inaugural function at 9:00am at Bangabandhu International Conference Center and daylong migration fair.
Additional secretary of the ministry Hazrat Ali, BMET DG Begum Shamsunnahar and other officers of the ministry, among others, were present at the press conference.
After the press conference a seminar titled, ‘Migration to achieve sustainable development’ was held.
The seminar, chaired by Hazrat Ali, was addressed among others by minister Nurul Islam BSC, BMET DG Shamasunnahar and additional DG Nizamuddin.
