EC to meet law enforcers on Saturday

DHAKA: The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with law enforcement agencies on Saturday to discuss about actions to keep law and order situation under control during the forthcoming municipal elections.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) Foundation auditorium in city at 11:00am.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad will preside over the meeting.

Meanwhile, EC sent letters to home ministry secretary, IGP, RAB, BGB, Ansar-VDP, Coast Guard, DGs of detective agencies, armed forces principal staff officers and returning officers requesting to attend the meeting.

Voters will cast their votes in 3,585 polling centers in the municipal elections. A total of 19-20 law enforcers will be deployed at each polling center.

Sources said, the decision on whether the Army will be deployed during the polls, will be taken from the meeting.
