DHAKA: The government has decided to appoint Tarik Ahsan, as the next high commissioner of Bangladesh to Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
He will be replacing Suhrab Hossain, says a foreign ministry press release issued on Thursday (February 18).
Tarik Ahsan, a career diplomat, belongs to the 9th batch of BCS (foreign affairs) Cadre. Currently he is serving as the high commissioner of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka.
In his distinguished diplomatic career, he served in Bangladesh missions in New York, Riyadh, Jakarta and Berlin in different capacities.
He also served in the ministry as Director General, International Organizations (IO).
Tarik Ahsan obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). He also did post-graduate diploma in International Relations & Development from International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague.
He also attended training courses in New York and Singapore. He is married and blessed with one daughter.
