Hajj flight begins on Sep 7

DHAKA: The first Hajj flight from Bangladesh will take off for Saudi Arabia from September 7, setting off plane sorties between Dhaka and Jeddah.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Hajj preparation initiatives in the Haji camp at Ashkona of the city on September 6.

Civil Aviation Minister M Faruk Khan confirmed the matter to journalists on Tuesday.

The civil aviation minister said, “A total of   90,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj this year by the flights of Biman Bangladesh airlines will take off for Jeddah on September 7.”

Besides, the return flight would begin from October 19 and the flights of Saudi Arabian Airlines flight would start from September 8 and the return flight would begin from October 21, he added.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker said, “A pilgrim could carry 46-kg weighted two-baggage during the journey and the flights will also take off from Chittagong and Sylhet airports.”
