GOPALGANJ: A man was killed and another one injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopinathpur area of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mitu Sikdar, 35, son of Moslem Sikdar of Sadar Upazila.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Sub-Inspector of Gopinathpur police outpost Idris Ali said, “A rashly driven bus rammed a van from behind, leaving van passenger Mitu dead on the spot and van driver injured.”

Agitated mob barricaded the highway for one and half-an-hour protesting the accident. Later the blockade was withdrawn after police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.
