Inu escapes harassment in London

LONDON: Two youths attempted to harass Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu in London office of the private television channel ATN Bangla on Monday night (UK time).

The Information Minister attended the closing ceremony on E– Commerce at Bangladesh High Commission to London as per tour schedule.

Later, he went to ATN Bangla office at about 10:30pm for taking part in a talk-show. His wife Afroza Haque and two protocol officers of Bangladesh High Commission accompanied him during the time.

Two unknown youths tried to introduce themselves with the minister at the reception of ATN Bangla. The security of the ATN challenged the duo as their activities seemed suspicious.

Knocking the security guard, they tried to hit the minister but failed. They also hurled egg targeting Inu and ran out of the office by a car.

On information, High Commissioner Mizarul Quayes, high commission’s press minister Rashed Chowdhury and leaders of grand alliance rushed to ATN office.

Hasanul Haque Innu said, “We’re doing politics facing such attacks. I was attacked in the country also. I think this is the continuation of that attack. Such attacks will continue until militancy and communalism are ended from the country forever.”

The movement led-by Sheikh Hasina to build a modern state would not be stopped through such kind of separate attacks. Rather this kind of attack increases the spirit of the work, he added.

On information, police rushed in and collect video footage of the spot.

Bangladesh High Commission Press Minister Rashed Chowdhury said that the matter would inform to British Government formally.
