Pragati Sarani blockade withdrawn

DHAKA: RMG workers withdrew their road blockade from city’s Pragati Sarani area that started from Tuesday morning demanding salary hike to a minimum TK 8,000 per month.

With processions, the workers of Sinha Fabrics, James Fashion, Gazi Limited, Euro zone factories took to the street under Kuril Flyover at around 8:30am to realize their demand.

They vandalized window glasses of Sinha Fabrics by throwing brick-chips.

Police rushed the place and asked them to keep calm.

The agitating workers said the protest would be continued till their demand is not met.

Later, the Director of Euro Fashion Tozammel Haque reached the scene at around 10:30 am and assured the agitators of salary hike. Then the workers called off their protest and went back to work.

However, a long tailback was seen on the road due to the two-hour-long road blockade and protest. The office-goers were in a dilemma for this reason.

Vatara police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.
