KURIGRAM: Railways Minister Advocate Nurul Islam Sujan said the government decided to purchase five hundred passenger coaches and one hundred engines this year for Bangladesh Railway (BR).
He was replying to questions posed by journalists after visiting a new Rail Station of Kurigram on Friday (March 22).
He said the government has taken multi-purpose development projects to modernize the railway communication networks as safe, affordable and low-cost transportation.
The minister said all closed rail lines will be reopened. All rail lines will be transformed into dual gauge lines, making way for both broad gauge and meter gauge lines.
All, he added, districts will come under railway networks.
