DHAKA: Dhaka City Corporation will construct 13 new 10-storyed buildings, which will be completed within 2017, spending Tk 190 crores for around 1500 cleaners in the capital.

The project plan will be placed in the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting on Tuesday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Planning Commission Source said that the buildings are being built with the government fund in three places of the city. Around 1148 flats will be built and each flat measuring 472 square feet.

Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry will implement the projects after approval.

Sources said that around 7156 cleaners are assigned for rubbish collection and management in the city where only 2980 cleaners got residence facilities by City Corporation.

Rests of the cleaners are hardly managing to live nowhere, but in 14 colonies. However 13 new buildings are under construction in city’s Dhalpur, Dayaganj and Sutrapur to get over this accommodation crisis.

After completion of the projects, the City Corporation cleaners suppose to get flats following policy and rules of the ministry.
