Barrister Shafique Ahmed, former law minister of Awami League government, was admitted at a hospital in the capital.

He is undergoing treatment at the ICU of LabAid Hospital, said his son Barrister Mahbub Shafique.

Barrister Shafique was admitted to LabAid Hospital on January 18 last after his liver-related complications deteriorated, his son said, adding his father had undergone Covid-19 tests four times, but the results came negative.

Barrister Shafique Ahmed served as Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Awami League government from 2009 to 2014.

Besides, he was former president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
