Lakshmipur district BNP convener Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee said that Awami League is using Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to stay in power. 

Awami League took people as hostages and committed extrajudicial killings in order to consolidate power, said Anee, also the publicity secretary of central BNP. 

He made this comment as a chief guest while attending the sit-in program organized for Khaleda Zia's release in Harish Villa premises in North Temuhani area of Lakshmipur district on Saturday (April 8) afternoon. 

German-based news agency Deutsche Welle (DW) showed how RAB is carrying out the extrajudicial killings as per the government directives, he added.

He also said: "Two people were interviewed there who were involved in that crime. They have presented the actual documentary. RAB is working to keep Awami League in power." 

Anee, in his speech, urged the administration to play a neutral role.
