The High Court today (May 3) granted bail to Mamunul Haque, the former joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, in five separate cases. 

An HC bench of Justice Mostafa Jaman Islam and Justice Aminul Islam passed the bail order.

Earlier on April 18, 2021, Mamunul Haque was arrested from a madrasa in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area.

He was arrested in a case filed against him and 16 others with Paltan Model Police Station on April 6 of that year. 

Mamunul Haque is accused in at least 17 cases in the capital. Among the cases, 15 were lodged over Hefazat’s mayhem in Motijheel’s Shapla Chattar on 5 May 2013.
