A Dhaka court today (July 18) set September 7 to submit a probe report in an assault case lodged against three including former vice-president (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury set the date after accepting the first information report in the case.

One Tarek Rahman, joint member secretary of Nur's Gono Odhikar Parishad, filed the case with Paltan Police Station on July 17 against Nur, Saiful Islam and Mahbubul Haque Shipon. Another four to five unnamed people were also made accused in the case.

According to the case documents, Tarek, belonging to the opposite faction of the party, was allegedly attacked by Nur's followers in their party office building and was brutally beaten. He was later admitted to Kakrail Islami Bank Central Hospital.
