Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Murad Chowdhury, a Jubo Dal leader from Chattogram, over the death of a police constable during the BNP’s anti-government rally in the capital on October 28.

Nurul Afsar, senior assistant director of RAB-7 confirmed the matter. 

Murad Chowdhury, general secretary of Chattogram north district Jubo Dal, was arrested around 1 am on Tuesday, he said. 

RAB handed him over to the police, Nurul Afsar added.

Earlier on October 28, two persons including police constable Amirul Islam Parvez were killed and several others injured during the clash.

Later, a murder case was filed against BNP men over the killing of a police constable during the clash between law enforcers and BNP men in Fakirapool area at Dhaka.

The BNP organised its grand rally in front of its Nayapaltan central office on October 28 with the participation of thousands of leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies to press home their one-point demand for holding the upcoming national election under a non-party government.
