Gono Odhikar Parishad convener Dr Reza Kibria stepped down from the party post on Wednesday (January 3) night. 

Party's acting member secretary Faruk Hasan confirmed the matter.  

The party's joint convener, Colonel (Retd) Mia Mosiuzzaman, will serve as the acting convener, Reza Kibria said in a press release. 

“I am resigning from the post of convener and have submitted my resignation letter to the Central Executive Council. Besides, I have resigned from the party membership,” he added. 

Reza Kibria also expressed deep gratitude to the leaders of the Gono Odhikar Parishad for giving him the opportunity to perform his duties as the convener of the party.

In June 2023, the party split into two factions, with Nurul Haque Nur leading the other part.
