One more case was filed last night (September 9) against former Member of Parliament (MP) Md Shibli Sadiq and 132 others for attacking and injuring students during the anti-discrimination student movement in Dinajpur.
Earlier, two murder cases were filed against Shibli and others.
Md Golap Hossain, son of Abdus Samad of Dakshin Makundpur village of Birampur upazila, filed the sabotage case as the plaintiff at the Birampur Police Station last night.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Birampur Police Station Inspector Subrata Kumar Sarkar confirmed the matter.
The other accused are - former Mayors of Birampur Pourashava Md. Akkas Ali, 58, and Md. Liaqat Ali Tutul, 50, former Chairman of Birampur Upazila Parishad Khairul Alam Raju, 45, UP Chairman Abdul Malek Mondal, 45, and UP Chairman Md. Rabiul Islam, 48, and leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League of Birampur and Nawabganj upazilas of the district.
According to the FIR of the case, a group of AL leaders, including former AL MP, on August 5 attacked the protesters at Dhaka Mor area and Government Birampur College Mor area in Birampur upazila town around 2:30 pm. The attackers injured several people, including students of the anti-discrimination students movement.
Apart from this, the accused in the case also included 600 more unidentified persons including leaders, activists of Awami League and other organizations and public representatives of Birampur and Nawabganj upazilas of the district.
