Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, former State Minister for Industries under the Awami League government, has been put on a three-day remand in a case over the killing of one Ikramul Haque during the anti-discrimination student movement.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted the remand on Saturday after the investigation officer of the case produced Kamal before the court with a seven-day remand plea.
On Friday night, a team of police from Kafrul Police Station arrested Kamal Ahmed in Gulshan area of the capital.
During the anti-discrimination student movement, the victim, Ikramul Haque, was shot in front of Shah Ali Mazar in Mirpur-10 on 4 August. He was taken to the Combined Military Hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on 14 August.
In connection with the incident, Ikramul's father Ziaul Haque filed a murder case with Shah Ali Police Station on 7 September.
