Tarique Rahman outlines vision for constitutional reforms

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed his vision for constitutional reforms aimed at transforming the fate of the people.

He emphasized the need for a safe and democratic Bangladesh, free from fascism and autocracy, where the government is accountable, and citizens have ownership and participation in governance.

Speaking as the chief guest via video conference from London at a program titled “Framework for Structural Reform: 31-Point Reform Outline” held at the capital's Lakeshore Hotel on Thursday (Nov 14), Tarique Rahman extended thanks to the leaders of pro-democracy political parties, BNP’s National Standing Committee members, diplomats, civil society members, and media representatives attending the event.

Rahman said that if BNP assumes power, their policies will be centered on people’s empowerment and participation, guided by their 31-point outline, with a foundation of rule of law, human rights, and freedom of speech.

Tarique Rahman emphasized that in their envisioned Bangladesh, no individual, including the Prime Minister, would have unchecked power or misuse authority.

“Accountability will be ensured at every level, from the highest ranks to the grassroots, where no one is above the law,” he said.
