Salman, Anisul 5 others remanded in murder case

A court today (Feb 3) put seven individuals, including Salman F Rahman, a former adviser to ousted PM Sheikh Hasina, and former law minister Anisul Huq, on a two-day remand each in connection with the murder of autorickshaw driver Hafizul during the student-led protests in July-August.

The other individuals placed on remand are Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Dr Dipu Moni, Atiqul Islam, AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, and Golam Sarwar Pintu.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order as police produced the seven accused before the court and pleaded to place them on a five-day remand each in the case lodged with the capital's Badda Police Station.

According to the case documents, autorickshaw driver Hafizul Shikder joined anti-discrimination student rally in Badda area on July 20. He was shot and killed at around at around 3 pm. A case was filed in this connection on August 21.
