BNP to meet CA over country’s ongoing crisis

The BNP Standing Committee held an emergency meeting on Friday (February 7) to discuss the country’s ongoing situation. 

The meeting began at 11:30 AM at the party chairperson’s political office in Gulshan and ended around 1:00 PM. BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman joined virtually.

According to sources, discussions covered recent incidents of vandalism across the country, the Reform Commission report, and the current political landscape. The committee decided that BNP leaders will meet with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on February 10 to express their concerns and position on the ongoing situation.

On Thursday night, BNP issued a statement warning that continued violence, arson, and destruction could threaten national stability if the government fails to control the situation.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed urged the public to remain patient and called on the government to restore order quickly. He also requested that no one engage in chaos due to provocation.

The meeting was attended in person and virtually by Standing Committee members, including Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, and Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.
