BOGRA: A Bogra court on Monday sent Sherpur municipality mayor Swadhin Kumar Kundu, also town BNP organising secretary, to jail rejecting his bail pleas in a vandalism and arson attack case.

Bogra Senior Judicial Magistrate Khandaker ATM Tofail Ahmed passed the order at noon.

Inspector of district judge court Shahjahan Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He further said three cases about vandalism, arson attack and obstructing police from discharging duties, during BNP-led 20-party called three-month countrywide blockade and repeated hartal from January, were filed against Swadhin Kumar Kundu.

The mayor surrendered to the court on Monday and plead for bail, he added.
