BCL man shot dead in Lakshmipur

LAKSHMIPUR: Miscreants gunned down an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League, at Amani Lakshmipur village under Sadar Upazila of the district Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Mamun Hossain, 25, a local BCL unit activist, son of Abu Tayaeb of the village.

Locals said that a gang of miscreants shot Mamun around 9:30pm while he was going to a nearby shop from his home and fled the scene, leaving Manum severely injured.

Locals rescued Mamun and took him to Noakhali for treatment. But he succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

Mamun might have been killed centering his involvement in BCL activities, alleged the locals.

However, district BCL president Choudhury Mahmudunnabi Sohel confirmed banglanews that the deceased was an activist of BCL.

On the other hand, district’s assistant superintendent of police Junaet Kawsar told banglanews that Mamun was allegedly involved in criminal activities in his area.
