NARAYANGANJ: A district court on Monday fixed July 8 to deliver its order on the Naraji petition filed by the plaintiff against the charge sheet of the Narayanganj Seven-murder case.

Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate HM Shafikul Islam fixed the date after recording the hearing in presence of 35 accused including former officers of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Arif Hossain and SM Masud Rana.

On May 11, Selina Islam Beauty, wife of Narayanganj City Corporation councilor Nazrul Islam, filed a Naraji petition against the charge sheet.

Because, names of five accused, including Siddirganj Thana Awami League (AL) former general secretary Hazi Yasin Miah, have been dropped from the charge sheet.

Chandan Sarkar’s son-in-law Bijoy Kumar Paul filed another case in this regard, naming Siddhirganj Thana Awami League president Nur Hossain, also suspended councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation, as the main accused.

Narayanganj District lawyer Association president and also Beauty’s lawyer in the case said they placed their arguments in support to the petition on Monday.

Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Fazlur Rahman who moved for states said Chandan Sarker’s family expressed satisfaction on the charge sheet.

We appealed for the cancelation of Naraji petition filed by Beauty as it was filed on political ground.

On April 27 of 2014, Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his driver and three associates, and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were abducted separately from Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road.

On April 30 in 2014, police recovered six bodies and on March 1 another body from the Shitalakhya river.
