DHAKA: The High Court (HC) ordered the authorities cornered to admit BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment.
The HC vacation bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Mohammad Iqbal Kabir passed the order on Tuesday noon after conducting a primary hearing on a writ petition filed by Rahat Ara Begum, wife of Fakhrul.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, however, moved for Fakhrul during the hearing in the court.
On January 6, police arrested Fakhrul in front of National Press Club. So far, the leader has made accused in 76 cases related to sabotages carried out during BNP-Jamaat movement.
