DHAKA: BNP termed the no signing of Teesta treaty during India premier Narendra Modi’s Dhaka tour a failure of Bangladesh government.
BNP spokesperson and also its international affairs secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon made the comment at a press conference at party headquarters in city’s Nayapaltan area on Tuesday.
He said that BNP is frustrated as there was no treaty on Teesta river water sharing during India PM Narendra Modi’s two-day official visit in Bangladesh.
According to him, there were 22 agreements were signed during Modi’s visit, but people do not know about them.
BNP hopes that the government will disclose the matter to the nation, he added.
Ripon also demanded the release all of its leaders and activists before the holy month of Ramajan.
BNP does not support violence and no party people s involved in any sort of violence, he claimed.
BNP leaders Advocate Abdus Salam and Nazim Uddin Alam and Jubo Dal president Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, among others, were present at the press conference.
