DHAKA: BNP demanded the removal of food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam for importing rotten wheat apart from foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali for failing to bring back the BGB man from Myanmar.
BNP spokesperson and also its international affairs secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon made the demand at a press conference held at the party headquarters in city’s Nayapaltan area Monday noon.
He urged to form a probe committee on importing rotten wheat despite the country has huge storage of wheat.
Mentioning the culture of corruption hampering democracy, the BNP leader urged the government to stop importing additional wheat and to take legal action against them.
The spokesperson also demanded the government to remove AH Mahmood Ali from the post of foreign minister as he failed to ensure the return of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Nayek Abdur Razzaq from Myanmar.
He also sought updated information about the return of Razzaq from BGB chief MA Aziz. Moreover, he demanded to inform the nation about the BGB chief’s talks with Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) authorities.
