DHAKA: The government’s appeal for a stay on the High Court order that granted bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sent to the full bench of the appellate division.
Court of Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Fayez Siddique sent the appeal to the full bench on Monday.
The bench led by chief justice SM Sinha will hold the hearing on Thursday.
Earlier in the morning, the appeal sought a stay on the High Court order that granted bail to the BNP leader.
Earlier on Thursday (June 18), a HC bench of Justice Mohammad Nuruzzaman and Justice Abdur Rob granted Fakhrul bail in three cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel thanas.
Lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain moved for the defenders while Barrister Rafiq-ul Huq and Barrister Moudud Ahmed were present at the court.
Earlier on April 16, the HC issued a rule asking to know why Fakhrul will not get bail in the three cases.
However, police filed the cases against the BNP leader in accusation of creating violence in Paltan and Motijheel areas in city during the BNP-led alliance enforced nationwide hartal and blockade.
