DHAKA: Joint general secretary of ruling Awami League (AL) Mahbubul Alam Hanif said there was no need for engaging in any dialogue about next general elections with BNP at this moment.
The AL leader made the comment while addressing a discussion commemorating the Jail Killing Day at R.C. Majumder auditorium on Dhaka University (DU) premises Friday afternoon (November 4).
Bangabandhu Shiksha O Gabeshona Parishad organized the discussion where he was addressing as chief guest.
Hanif said: “There is no need for dialogue with BNP about the general polls. The government will take necessary steps at the end of 2018 or in the beginning of 2019 to make sure all parties participation in the elections.”
“If needed, there will be dialogue then,” he added.
“Jail is considered as the safest place on earth. Yet, state patronized killers shot dead four national leaders of the country there,” Hanif added.
DU vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique chaired the program where AL organizational secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, bar council vice-president Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder and AL relief and social welfare secretary Sujit Ray Nandi also addressed the event.
