HC asks Morshed Khan to surrender

DHAKA: The High Court (HC) on Wednesday (November 9) has ordered BNP Leader Morshed Khan along with his wife Nasreen Khan and son Faisal Morshed Khan to surrender within six-week in a money laundering case.    

The court also ordered to reinvestigate the case. Besides, their accounts in Hong Kong’s Standard Chartered Bank will remain frozen until March 31, 2017, it added.

A two-member bench of judges M Enayetur Rahim and JBM Hassan passed the order on Wednesday (November 9).  

Lawyer Khurshid Alam moved for Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) while Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud for the defendant.

Morshed Khan, his wife and son was accused in a money laundering case in 2013. Their bank account had remained seized until 2015.  

After Anti corruption commission (ACC) had submitted the final investigation report, the trio were acquitted of the charge and their bank accounts were freed.   

The ACC submit a revision petition in the HC order while their bank accounts again seized on June 5 for the hearing.
