Ex-BCL leader awarded 17-yr jail

BARISAL: A Barisal court on Monday awarded 17-year imprisonment to a former Chhatra League leader in an arms case.

The convict is Mukituzzaman Roni, 28, son of Barisal City Mohila League president Fazilatunessa.

District Special Tribunal-1 Judge Habibur Rahman passed the verdict in presence the convict.

The case statement reads: On July 19, 2012 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) held Roni with a pistol and five rounds bullet from Barisal club area.

Following the incident, RAB-8 DAD Abu Siddik filed a case in this connection.

On July 7, 2012 Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Mukul submitted the charge sheet against him.
