CHITTAGONG: A truck driver was killed in an attack by hartal supporters on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway under Satkania upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Wasim 40, hailed from Cox’s Bazar.

Police sources said that picketers started throwing brick-chips towards Wasim while he was driving his truck on the way to Cox’s Bazar from Chittagong at around 2:00am.

At one stage of attack, a broken glass hit Wasim’s head, left him injured that pushed him lost control over the steering and fell the truck into a roadside ditch, leaving him dead on the spot.

The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Chittagong Additional Police Super (South) Nazmul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
