Tamim Iqbal withdraws from BCB election race Tamim Iqbal

Former national captain Tamim Iqbal has withdrawn his candidacy for the post of director in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections.

Although he had earlier expressed keen interest in working within the board’s cricket operations, Tamim stepped aside on Wednesday, the final day for nomination withdrawals.

The deadline was set for 12 noon, but Tamim appeared at the BCB headquarters by 10:30 am to formally withdraw.

Several cricket organisers aligned with Tamim were also seen at the board premises, fuelling speculation that they too might pull out of the race.

The BCB election is scheduled for October 6.

According to the board’s constitution, 10 directors will be chosen from 71 councilors representing district and divisional units, 12 directors from 76 councilors representing clubs, and one director from 45 councilors representing universities and other organisations.

A total of 25 directors will then elect the new BCB president. Tamim’s withdrawal has added fresh intrigue to the election process.
