19 May 2012- Police held two operatives of Islamist outfit Hizbut Tawhid in the upazila on Friday night. The detainees are Mofiz Uddin, 28, of Charvelamari village in Nandail Upazila and Jalal Uddin, 36, of Char Shreeraumpur village in the same upazila. 20 May 2012- The International Crime Tribunal fixed June 4 to decide whether it would frame charge against Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Mohammad Kamaruzzaman. 22 May 2012- Six sub-inspectors of Savar and Ashulia Thana were closed to police line on charge of their involvement with drug peddling. The authority has got evidences of selling drugs and making relation with drug peddlers against them. 23 May 2012- The High Court Wednesday issued a rule upon government to explain within 12 days why the gazette canceling the candidacy of JP Tangail-5 constituency MP Abul Kashem and declaring BNP backed Maj (Retd) Mahmudul Hasan as MP “should not be declared illegal”. An HC bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Justice Jahangir Hossain came up with the order following a writ petition filed by 25 voters of the constituency.
