26 May 2012- Bangladesh got membership in United Nations’ special ‘Education Initiatives’. Earlier, UN secretary general Ban ki-Moon formed an Education Initiatives consisting of 10 head of the governments from developing and developed countries. 27 May 2012- The High Court on Sunday granted bail for six months to five BNP lawmakers in a vehicle torching case in front of PM’s office during hartal. They are—MK Anwar, barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Col. (Rtd.) Oli Ahmed, barrister Andalib Rahman Partha and Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne. 28 May 2012- At least eight journalists of bdnews24.com, an online news agency, were injured following an attack of criminals in front of its Amtoli office in the city`s Mohakhali on Monday night. 29 May 2012- The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers is observed in the country as elsewhere across the world Tuesday to salute the 120,000 peacekeepers serving in 17 missions in some of the world’s most volatile and dangerous environments. This day is also a time to mourn fallen peacekeepers. During its history, nearly 3,000 “Blue Helmets” have died devoting their lives to peace, including 112 men and women in 2011. 30 May 2012- In spite of having taken place different occurrence by police in the country, home minister Advoate Sahara Khatun claimed that the police force is far better than what it was earlier. 01 June 2012- Local administration imposed section 144 in Dhunat upazila of the district as two fractions of opposition BNP have convened meeting at same place. On behalf of upazila administration, executive magistrate and UNO Ataul Gani imposed section 144 there on Friday. Officer-in-Charge of Dhunat Thana Shamsul Haq told banglanews, “Apprehending disturbance of law-and-order, the local administration imposed section 144 in the venue and surrounding areas to be in force from Saturday morning to dusk.” banglanews24.com
