The South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (SAILS) has organized a day-long workshop on Mediation on Saturday (21 July 2012) in Dhaka.
The Course aims to orient the Participants on the concept, purpose and techniques of Mediation, and it’s global context, development and related legal framework in Bangladesh.
The Trainers were Md. Zakir Hossain, Director (Administration), Judicial Administration Training Institution (JATI), Barrister Abdul Halim, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Dr. Uttam Kumar Das, a Mediation Trainer trained at the Hamline University and The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution, Los Angeles, U.S.A.
A total of 15 development workers, mediation practitioners, academics and students participated in the programme.
SAILS, in collaboration with The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution and the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) has organized a week-long training course on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) for judges and lawyers earlier. It also organized a month-long South Asian workshop on ADR in 2010.
