Save the Children is going to organize an advocacy workshop on Monday September 23, 2013 in Khulna in order to facilitate Khas lands for extreme poor households under Shiree programme.
The Economic Empowerment of the Poorest Programme (EEP/SHIREE-Stimulating Household Improvements Resulting in Economic Empowerment) aims to support the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) in achieving the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 1, targets 1 and 2 of income poverty reduction and hunger achieved by 2015.
Joint Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh and Programme Director of EEP Asadul Islam would present as Chief Guest in the workshop. Mesbahuddin, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna would preside over the workshop.
Save the Children has been implementing a programme in Khulna and Bagerhat targeting 38200 extreme poor households to provide sustainable pathways out of extreme poverty, by generating assets, improving incomes, decreasing dependency and vulnerability, and increasing food security.
The Household Economic and Food Security (HEFS) model is a livelihood-based framework for analyzing the ways and means of extreme poor households that can help them survive and graduate out of poverty.
