CJ for Act about appointment of justices

DHAKA: Chief Justice of Bangladesh Surendra Kumar Sinha on Wednesday (December 7) urged the government to enact laws regarding the appointment of justices of the Supreme Court.

He further said the law minister also proposed about composing an act about the matter.

Congratulating the law minister Anisul Huq, SK Sinha also said: “Many countries across the globe have such act. I hope we will be able to compose one.”

The chief justice was addressing a meeting, organized by Deshiya Sanskritik Parishad, at Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) auditorium in the evening.

He also congratulated Justice Khairul Haq and Justice Ebadul Haq who have begun giving verdicts in Bangla.

Bar Council vice-chairman Abdul Baset Majumder, lawyers’ samity president Yusuf Hossain Humayun and general secretary Mahbub Uddin Khokon, and lawyers Layekuzzaman Molla and Dr. Bashir Ahmed also addressed the meeting.
