PIROJPUR: A district court on Sunday (April 23) handed over life term to two men and 7-years jail to another, in a case filed under the Child and Women Repression Act.

The life term jailed convicts are- Taslim Hasan Bappy, 19, son of Shahidul Islam Farid Mahajan and Emran Mahajan, 18, son of Insaf Ali Mahajan, both of them resided from Kalikathi area under Pirojpur Sadar upazila. 

Bappy’s father Shahidul Islam Farid Mahajan awarded seven years imprisonment.

Additional District and Sessions judge SM Zillur Rahman also fined Bappy Tk 1 lakh, Emran Tk 50,000 and Shahidul Tk 1 lakh. In default, Bappy and Emran have to serve one more year in jail, whereas 6 more months for Shahidul.  

According to the case statement, Bappy allured a ninth class schoolgirl with the promise of marriage and raped her in Emran’s house on January 2, 2013 leaving the girl pregnant.
 
On May 19, 2013, Bappy’s father, in bid to solve the crisis, convinced the girl and her father for an abortion in promise of marriage. Later he denied the marriage.

On June 3, the girl’s father then filed a case under the Child and Women Repression Act with Pirojpur Sadar police station.
