RAJSHAHI: A Rajshahi court on Monday (April 24) awarded life term imprisonment to two people in a murder case of Paba upazila in the district. The court awarded ten years imprisonment to another person in the case.

Judge of the speedy trial tribunal of Rajshahi Shirin Kabita Akhter pronounced the verdict in presence of the convicts.

The court, however, acquitted six other accused in the case.

The convicts for life term imprisonment are Azad Ali and Kabil Hossain. The court fined TK. 20,000 each, in default, one year more imprisonment.

Another convict Sazzad was fined TK. 5,000, in default, four months more imprisonment.  

Special public prosecutor Entazul Haque Babu moved for the state, while Advocate Hamidur Rahman moved for the defence.  

According to the case statement, Abdullah al Mamun, son of freedom fighter Wazed Ali of Kholabon area of Paba upazila, was beaten to death on October 16 in 2013.  

Wazed Ali filed a case with Paba police station. Later, the case was shifted to the speedy trail tribunal.
