KHULNA: A tribunal of Khulna on Thursday (May 11) awarded death sentence to a husband and his brother-in-law for killing a housewife named Razia Sultana Deepa, 19, in the district.

The convicts are Litu Mollah, 30, son of Mainuddin Mollah of Targram village of Gopalgan and wife of the housewife, and Litu Mollah’s brother-in-law Mazid Hawlader.

Judge of the tribunal SM Solaiman Ahsan pronounced the verdict in presence of the killer husband. However, Mazid Hawlader is on the run.

According to the case statement, police recovered the body of Deepa on February 3 in 2008 from Rupsha of Khulna. Later on February 25, her father Harunur Rashid identified the body. He also filed a case with Rupsha police station in this connection.  

Earlier on February 2 in 2008, Litu Mollah along with his wife Deepa left Khulna home for the residence of Deepa’s father in Gopalganj.
