MANIKGANJ: A district court has awarded life term imprisonment to four people for killing a trader named Alim, at Ghior upazila in Manikganj.

Judge of District and Sessions Court in Manikganj Mizanur Rahman delivered the verdict on Tuesday (May 23) in presence of the convicts.

The court also fined Tk. 10,000 each.

The convicts’ names are Ripon Ullah, Delwar Hossain, Mahmudul Hasan Babu and Ismail Hossain.

Advocate Azizullah moved for the state in the court, while Rawshan Ali moved for the convicts.

According to the case statement, Alim was killed on July 23 in 2013 on the way of Ghior Bazar from his residence. The convicts demanded money from Alim for addiction. They killed Alim and looted Tk. 10,000 and a mobile phone from his possession.

Police recovered the body of Alim following the day hanging from a bridge in the area.

Later, Alim’s sister Shahnaz Begum filed a case in this connection.
