BARISAL: A district court on Monday (May 29) has awarded death to one person and life term imprisonment to two others for killing a Krishok League leader, Shasul Alam Mridha, in Barisal.

Judge of Barisal Additional District and Sessions Judges court-1 Sudipta Das also fined the convicts Tk 50,000 each. 

The death row convict is Palash Pyada, son of one Salam Pyada from Rajguru village in Babuganj upazila of Barisal.

The other two convicts are Mariam Begum, wife of Abdul Halim Bepari from Dakshin Bhuterdia village of the upazila and Joynal Abedin Bhuiyan from Rajguru village.

According to case statement, on March 16 in 2013, Polash Pyada, with the assistance of Mariam and joynal, have beaten Shamsul Alam Mridha to death by a brick after Mirdha protest against selling drugs in the community. 

Deceased’s wife Manowara Begum filed a murder case on the next day.
