JESSORE: A youth has been awarded death penalty in a case filed over raping and killing a minor girl in Jessore.

Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Jessore Amit Kumar Dey delivered the verdict on Tuesday (May 30).

The convict is Lavlu, son of Entaj Ali of Arenda village under Jessore sadar. The court also fined the convict Tk. 1,00000.

The court, however, exempted another accused in the case Anwar Hossain, as he died during the trial proceedings.   

According to the case statement, Lavlu and Anwar raped the minor girl named Sabina, at a corn field on March 23 in 2014. Later, they killed Sabina.

Victim’s father Billal Hossain on March 24 filed a case in this connection.

Public prosecutor (PP) of Jessore court Idris Ali confirmed the matter to the Banglanews.
