JOYPURHAT: A district court has awarded death sentence to a man for killing his wife in Joypurhat in 2012.

Judge of the Additional District and Sessions Court in Joypurhat Dr Md Abdul Mazid delivered the verdict on Wednesday (May 31).

The court also fined the convict Tk. 20,000.

The convict Nazrul Islam is son of Ramzan Ali of Dulali village under Akkelpur upazila in the district.

According to the case statement, Nazrul hacked to death his wife Nazma on October 30 in 2012 over family feud. He fled his home after dumping the body in a paddy filed near the home.

Later, Nazma’s brother Azizar filed a case with Akkelpur police station in this connection.
