SHERPUR: A district court on Tuesday (September 19) awarded life term imprisonment to a man in a case filed for raping an 11-year old girl at Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur.

Additional District and Sessions Judge of Sherpur Musleh Uddin delivered the verdict in absence of the convict.

The court also fined the convict Tk 50, 000, in default, six months more imprisonment.

The convict is Md Nail Mia, young son of Babul Mia of Baitkamari DIkpara area under Nalitabari upazila in the district.

According to the case statement, the convict raped the child girl on June 11 in 2014 at his home.
