CJ goes on leave as suffering from cancer

DHAKA: Law Minister Anisul Huq said that there is no connection between Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha’s one month leave and the Supreme Court verdict that scrapped the 16th amendment to the constitution.

He made the things clear while talking to reporters at secretariat on Tuesday noon (Oct 3).

In response to reporter’s query, Anisul Huq also dismissed the notion that the Chief Justice was somehow forced to take leave.

He added: “Chief Justice, in his application letter, said that he is suffering from cancer and other old age complications. He needs time to take rest and go for treatment… that is why he went on one month leave.”
