DHAKA: The High Court (HC) on Thursday (October 12) ordered the authorities concerned to complete the construction work of the Savar Tannery Palli within four weeks.
The HC bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md. Salim passed the order following a plea filed by the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA).
Syeda Rizwana Hasan moved for BELA in the court, while lawyer Rois Uddin stood on behalf of the industries ministry.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu had threatened that the allocation of plots will be cancelled if the tannery owners fail to transfer the factories to Savar Tannery Palli from Hazaribagh.
The High Court on March 06 this ordered to close all the tanneries in Hazaribagh area.
